My work is about tension and conflict between individuals and in society.
My studies and experience as a journalist make me constantly aware of the world and this struggle.
We can be talking the same language but comunication occurs in so many different layers that understanding sometimes seems imposible. What connects us? What separates us? Are these perceptions real? This tension is a wire that enervates in a positive and negative way at the same time.
Space, language, history, experience, culture, everything builds or colludes against us.
In this context, paper and watercolours – and their transparent and fragile nature – play a part in revealing the layers beneath.
Meanwhile, tactile and slow, oil painting allows me to move big masses of colours with my brush and push them together.
The wire stretches itself or cracks without touching the ends.
